Banana Port (Fishing), Storage Facility And Processing Plant Project.


The Banana Combined Development project plans to develop a Fish Port within the main port and seeks to construct a dedicated fish port terminal with a cold storage facility and prcessing plant to proposed Banana port to support the sea water fishing and dry land fish ponds fishing in the province.

The proposed project is expected to benefit local fishermen, fish brokers, construction supplies, and the local population and will boost government initiatives in spurring economic activities to resolve poverty and increase food security in the region.

The Banana Combined Development project will fund construction of the facilities, facilitate unloading and Marketing of fish from commercial and the region fishing cooperative society. Fishing Vessels Provision of facilities for Harbor Operations including dry docking fishing gear repair, ice water and fuel conveyance and product transshipment Provision of Processing and Refrigeration facilities and services through contact freezer and product preservation through the use of the cold storage (-5 and -35 C) rooms. Individual Quick Freezing Machine and Blast Freezing Raw land for the establishement of fishery related factories.

The project aims to supply over 1,000 fishing bancas in the region Fishing society, including 20 commercial fishing vessels, 1000 motorized and 50 non-motorized fishing vessels and fishing nets.

Protected Fish output on success of the project:

The construction of the fish port and cold storage facility in Banana will address numerous problems in fish handling and distribution, as well as improve fish quality.

The success of the project will put the DR Congo back in fishing business and will be able to compete with other countries.
